- Q: How to service and repair the Steering Angle Sensor on 2005 Cadillac STS?A: To service and repair the steering angle sensor, begin by identifying the type of the sensor from the illustrations before any removal. The right side (the front of the sensor connector) will be on the right. It is not necessary to center before removal should the sensor be reused. Rest the sensor connector and displace the sensor from the adapter and bearing assembly. When reusing the sensor, record an alignment mark on the flush rotor flange cuff prior to removing to preclude from aligning whilst reinstalling. Upon installation, make sure the sensor is aligned with the steering shaft, connect sensor, etc. On the front of the sensor, there would be a foam ring; a pin hole will be used for centering and a flush rotor flange cuff. In both reuse and new setup, be certain to align the marks on the rotor flange cuff before installation, where it stays aligned until the sensor gets seated. For a new sensor, do not pull out the pin until positioning. The back of the sensor will be double D flats and alignment tab. Reinstall the sensor but make sure that the front of the sensor is properly equipped with the features like pin holes and the alignment marks and join the two after the alignment.
