How to replace the Air Bag Sensor for the side impact on 2004 Chevrolet Colorado?

Disconnecting the SIR system becomes necessary before starting inflatable restraint side impact sensor (SIS) replacement. Begin the installation by removing the front door trim panel along with a peeling of the water deflector's rear section until you reach the side impact sensor on the door. Detach the bolts which hold the side impact sensor to the door before separating the electrical connection of the impact sensor. Extract the side impact sensor from its mounting position within the door frame. Clear the mounting surface from all contaminants before placing the side impact sensor flat against the door and joining its electrical connection. Use 9 N.m (79 lb in) of torque to install screws that will attach the side impact sensor to the door. Reinsert the door trim panel and fully position the water deflector before completing the door installation. Finally, enable the SIR system.
