2004 Chevrolet Cavalier Steering Wheel Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the steering wheel on 2004 Chevrolet Cavalier?
A: The replacement process starts by removing the negative Battery Cable connection. First disable the supplemental inflatable restraint system then detach the Steering Wheel inflator restraint module. Next remove the Steering Wheel nut then connect the Steering Wheel puller (J 1859-A) and its companion components Steering Wheel puller legs (J 42578) to extract the Steering Wheel from the Steering Column. Set the Steering Wheel on the column then fasten it with the Steering Wheel nut while tightening to achieve 41 n.m of torque (30 lb ft). Reinstall the inflatable restraint Steering Wheel module after enabling the sir system before reconnecting the negative Battery Cable.
