How to replace the engine coolant thermostat (LY7) on 2004 Cadillac SRX?

In order to change the engine coolant thermostat (LY7), drain the cooling system partially, but not the intake manifolds. Take off the upper and lower intake manifold, disconnect the surge tank hose and take off the thermostat. Install the new thermostat with a new seal making sure that the right fasteners are used. Installation of manifolds and filling of the cooling system.
