How to replace the rear Trunk Lid Lift Support on 2004 Buick Regal?

To install the new rear compartment lid strut first prop up the open lid at the back of the car. Insert a flat-bladed tool into the clip slot on the upper part of the strut and gently push out the upper ball stud. Push out the lower ball stud through its locking clip by using the tool and then withdraw the rear compartment lid strut from the hinge. Place the new support strut on the hinge and press the lower ball stud first while inserting the upper ball stud afterwards. Both locking clips should then be secured. Shut the rear compartment while taking out its support rod last.
