2004 Buick Park Avenue Oxygen Sensor Parts and Q&A

  • Q: What tools are required to replace the Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) 2, and what is the proper procedure for its removal and installation on 2004 Buick Park Avenue?
A: The replacement of heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) 2 requires the use of Oxygen Sensor wrench (J 39194). Bolt the ho2s connectors using the Oxygen Sensor wrench j 39194 while keeping the in-line electrical connector and louvered end clear from grease and dirt and maintenance solvents avoid all times. Vehicle maintenance starts by shutting off power at the ignition and using supports to lift the car and then removing the splash shield. Disconnect the Oxygen Sensor connector from the ho2s electrical connector by removing the ho2s electrical connector retaining tab. The procedure to remove oxygen sensors should be done only when the engine temperature reaches above 48°c (120°F) to avoid difficult removal. Use the Oxygen Sensor wrench (J 39194) to remove the Oxygen Sensor from the Exhaust Pipe. When installing used sensors apply special anti-seize compound to the threads through the use of p/n 5613695 or equivalent compound when needed. Fit the Oxygen Sensor inside the Exhaust Pipe while torquing it to 41 n.m (30 lb ft). Reattach the ho2s connector to the ho2s electrical connector while you put the retaining tab back into position on the electrical connector before repositioning the front splash shield and lowering the vehicle.
