2004 Buick Park Avenue Brake Booster Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the vacuum brake booster on 2004 Buick Park Avenue?
A: Begin replacing the vacuum Brake Booster by disconnecting the electric connector from the brake fluid sensor first then removing the master cylinder mounting nuts without separating brake pipes. Set the master cylinder aside by moving it forward gently to avoid touching or bending brake pipes. Disconnect the washer solvent reservoir before taking out the Brake Booster vacuum check valve plus hose while positioning everything aside. Also detach the electrical connector from the EGR Valve and place it on the side. Lower your Steering Column and unplug the Brake Booster Pushrod retainer while you take out its foam spacer from the Brake Pedal clevis pin. Detach the Pushrod from its Brake Pedal connection before removing the Brake Pedal assembly through the booster stud mounting nuts to take out the vacuum Brake Booster along with the Brake Booster mounting gasket if required. Before installation put the new Brake Booster mounting gasket on the unit then fit the booster to its vehicle location and tighten the mounting nuts on the Brake Pedal assembly to 23 nm (17 ft. Lbs.). Use a small amount of 12346293 lubricant or an equivalent on the Brake Pedal clevis pin before connecting it with the Brake Booster Pushrod. Put the foam spacer and retainer clip on the Brake Pedal clevis pin before replacing the left closeout panel and washer solvent reservoir. At last place the master cylinder onto the booster before reconnecting the vacuum check valve to the Brake Booster and electrical connectors both to the fluid level sensor and the EGR Valve.
