    A: Begin the crankshaft front oil seal replacement by uninstalling the crankshaft balancer followed by removing the seal from the front cover. It is crucial to both avoid applying lubricant on the oil seal surface and refraining from reusing the crankshaft oil seal. Use clean engine oil to lubricate both ends of the new oil seal and the front cover seal bore. After oiling the first front oil seal of the crankshaft, install it using the guide from the J 41478 Crankshaft Front Oil Seal Installer (J 41478). Use J 41478 threaded rod with the integrated nut, washer, guide, and oil seal to install the seal in the crankshaft end before using the J 41478 to place the oil seal into the cover bore. While gripping the hex on the installer bolt with one wrench you should employ a second wrench to turn the installer nut clockwise for seating the seal inside the cover bore. Use the J 41478 to place the seal into the front cover opening and check that the installation runs evenly from edge to edge. Finally, reinstall the crankshaft balancer.
