How to replace the Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) on 2003 Chevrolet Avalanche 1500?

Start the VSS replacement process by lifting the vehicle and getting it into position for work. Detach the vehicle speed sensor electrical connector before removing its bolt and sensor. After that remove the O-ring seal. After placing the O-ring seal on the VSS you need to apply transmission fluid to it before mounting the component. Fasten the VSS bolt by tightening it to 11 Nm or 97 inch lbs. After reconnecting the VSS electrical connector you should lower the vehicle and fill in extra fluid when needed.
