2002 Chevrolet Venture Brake Disc Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the rear brake disc on 2002 Chevrolet Venture?
A: You must raise and support the vehicle before you can remove the tire and wheel to replace the rear brake rotor. Use a c-clamp to position across the brake caliper top and against the outboard Brake Pad back. Apply gentle pressure using the c-clamp until the Brake Caliper Piston enters the brake caliper bore enough to move the brake caliper out from the rotor. Detach the Brake Caliper Bracket along with the brake caliper but maintain the connection of the hydraulic flex hose after you remove the c-clamp. Supporting the brake caliper with heavy mechanic's wire as an equivalent system prevents damage to the flexible brake hose. Secure both brake caliper and Brake Caliper Bracket with a strap or heavy gauge wire before taking off the brake rotor. Follow these steps for brake rotor installation by first removing any brake rotor flange corrosion and cleaning the hub flange with hub cleaning kit (J 42450-A) before putting on the new rotor. You should reinstall the Brake Caliper Bracket alongside the brake caliper while also putting on the tire and wheel as you set the vehicle back down.
