How to replace the brake backing plate on 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier?

In order to get rid of the brake backing plate, lift and hold the car, take the tire, brake drum, brake shoes and wheel cylinder off. Remove the parking brake cable, the hub and bearing assembly and the backing plate. Install back again, fixing the brake systems accordingly.
