How to replace the rear trunk latch on 2001 Chevrolet Malibu?

To change the rear compartment lid latch, open the compartment, and mark the place of the latch. Take off lock cable and in case, remote release cable. Unscrew the electric connector and wring out the lock bolts. Install and tighten the new latch assembly and reattach the cables and close the compartment.
