2001 Chevrolet Malibu Automatic Transmission Filter Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair the Automatic Transmission Filter on 2001 Chevrolet Malibu?
A: Start the automatic transmission fluid filter service by taking out the transaxle oil pan after which you should remove the Oil Filter using a long screwdriver to separate the filter neck from its seal. Inspection of the Oil Filter seal requires the j 6125-1b slide hammer (J 6125-1B) tool and the j 23129 axle boot remover (J 23129) for removing any damaged seals. The installation of new seals requires a small amount of j 36850 petroleum jelly (J 36850) as a coating material when fitting the seals. To complete the operation you need to put both a new filter inside the case followed by reinstallation of the transaxle oil pan.
