How to replace the thermostat on 2001 Chevrolet Cavalier?

In order to replace the thermostat, empty the cooling system and do away with the lower radiator hose. Unscrew the outlet and bolts of the thermostat, and unscrew the thermostat. Wipe the mating surfaces and install the new thermostat and seal the outlet. Install the lower radiator hose back on, refill the cooling system and leak test.
