To change the rear compartment lift window linkage requires you to first lift the convertible rear trunk while stabilizing it. Using a flat-blade screwdriver with care you can detach the strut from its mounts without putting the part at risk. First pull the rear lift panel strut both from the rear trunk lid and rear body mounts before bringing it out of the car. Fasten the strut by applying significant force until it snaps into position on the mounts and test its stability by tugging at the strut. Reinsert the strut to its seats on both the rear tub and the rear mounting points of the body. Then remove the holding tool and shut the trunk lid.
