How to replace the front side Door Latch Assembly on 2001 Cadillac Seville?

The process to replace front side door latches starts by putting the window at full up position then taking off the door trim panel. First disconnect electrical connectors and remove the water deflector. The installation of a front side door latch begins by removing the inside Door Handle cable retainer clip and disconnecting the lock cylinder rod (for driver-door applications only) while detaching the outside Door Handle rod from the door latch retainer clip . Using counterclockwise rotation on the lock knob allows removal of the rod while three fasteners that secure the door latch are removed before taking it off the door. Connect all electrical connectors before putting the door latch back into its position on the door. Place the door lock knob properly and attach the three fasteners at 10 n.m (89 lb in). Connect the outside Door Handle rod to the latch through placement of the rod into the Door Latch Assembly retainer clip. Afterward, close the clip. Follow these steps to install the driver door door lock rod and its corresponding knob by rotating the knob clockwise onto the rod. The last steps include testing the Door Handle functions properly before installing the water deflector and returning the door trim panel.
