You must use the tool known as Fascia Retainer Remover (J 36346) to detach the push pin retainers that fix the rear bumper fascia into place with rear wheelhouse extensions. The second stage of replacement involves removing the fastener which connects the rear bumper fascia to the wheelhouse opening. Start by opening the rear compartment lid before removing the rear compartment sill trim next to popping loose the rear compartment side trim panels. Before proceeding remove all fasteners which attach the rear bumper fascia to the quarter panels alongside the ones that connect the fascia to the rear end panel. Proceed to detach the rear bumper fascia together with the energy absorber from the vehicle. To install place the rear bumper fascia fasteners on the body and then install these fasteners to fix the fascia with the rear end panel while tightening them to 4 N.m (35 lb in). Fasten the rear bumper fascia to both quarter panels through installation of associated fasteners that need to be tightened up to 4 N.m (35 lb in). Put in place first the rear compartment side trim panels and then the rear compartment sill trim before locking the rear compartment lid. The installation ends by fitting push pin retainers to connect the rear bumper fascia with the rear wheelhouse extensions while lowering the car down.
