2001 Buick LeSabre Air Suspension Compressor Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the Air Suspension Compressor on 2001 Buick LeSabre?
A: The first step to replace an Air Suspension Compressor includes vehicle elevation and right rear wheel removal together with right rear wheelhouse extension removal. Soak and wipe down all Air Hose components to avoid contamination before you detach either the intake Air Filter connection or the Air Suspension Compressor. Separate the air dryer air tube before removing the bolt and harness tie securing it to its Air Suspension Compressor bracket position. After disconnecting the vehicle harness connector from the Air Suspension Compressor connector the technician needs to remove two nuts, the Air Suspension Compressor assembly and the bolt from the vehicle. Start by sliding the Air Suspension Compressor connector off its connector anchor position but keep two bolts holding the heat shield to the Air Suspension Compressor bracket while you detach these three bolts which fasten the Air Suspension Compressor assembly to its bracket. The air dryer needs to be removed from the compressor and air hoses need to be detached from two connections on the compressor. After this happens two screws and two brackets can be removed from the compressor. Secure the two brackets onto the Air Suspension Compressor with two screws that should reach 7 nm of torque (62 inch lbs). The installation requires an Air Hose to connect to two points on the Air Suspension Compressor before installing the air dryer onto the compressor. Install your Air Suspension Compressor assembly onto the bracket using three bolts but leave the third heat shield bolt until after you complete your air tube installation. Set all three bolts to 3 nm torque while omitting inch lbs. Measurement units. Secure the Air Suspension Compressor bracket's heat shield using two 4 nm (35 inch lbs.) bolt torques before connecting the Air Suspension Compressor connector to its anchor point. After mounting the Air Suspension Compressor assembly to the vehicle's body with two nuts and a bolt apply force of 9 nm (80 inch lbs.) to both fasteners and bolt. Connect the Air Suspension Compressor harness to its connector then add the intake Air Filter and link the air tube to the air dryer. Finish by securing the air tube with harness tie at the Air Suspension Compressor bracket using a 4 nm (35 inch lbs.) bolt torque value. To finish the operation replace both right rear components including wheelhouse extension and wheel. A complete waiting period of 45 seconds after ignition activation leads to residual pressure filling within air adjustable shock absorbers before you should lower the vehicle.
