- Q: How to replace the EGR valve on 2001 Buick Century?A: The first step to replace an exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve includes a shutdown of ignition and the removal of the EGR Valve electrical connector. The EGR Valve needs the bolt at the pipe assembly removed to extract the pipe assembly gently. After disconnecting the EGR Valve electrical connector the next step is to remove the two retaining bolts that secure the EGR Valve assembly while also removing the gasket. The new gasket must be positioned before installing the EGR Valve onto the Intake Manifold while following the fastener notice in service precautions. Feed the bolts from the EGR Valve through the openings while tightening each one to 30 n.m (22 lb ft). After returning the pipe assembly to the EGR Valve it is essential to install the bolt followed by torqueing it to 30 n.m (22 lb ft). Connect the power cable of the EGR Valve as the last step.
