- Q: How to Replace an A/C Hose in the Evaporator Hose Assembly on 2000 Chevrolet Prizm?A: In replacing the evaporator hose assembly, release and recover the refrigerant. Disconnect the refrigerant pressure switch connector and remove the bolt from the condenser inlet/outlet while ensuring that the open fittings are capped to avoid entry of dirt and moisture in the refrigeration system. Slide the plate counterclock and remove the evaporator liquid hose from condenser, then remove it from the evaporator liquid tube and extricate it from the vehicle. For installation install new O-rings lubricated by 525 viscosity mineral oil, insert the evaporator liquid hose in the vehicle. Install the hose for the evaporator liquid to the evaporator liquid tube and tighten the fitting to 25 N.m (19 lb ft). After that, connect the compressor discharge and the liquid line to the condenser, spread the plate clockwise and fix it by one bolt, screw it with 47 N.m (35 lb ft). Connect refrigerant pressure switch connector then evacuate recharge refrigerant system. Lastly, run the A/C system and check for leaks in the refrigerant.
