2000 Chevrolet Malibu Exhaust Manifold Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the left exhaust manifold on 2000 Chevrolet Malibu?
A: Beginning left Exhaust Manifold replacement requires first disconnecting the Battery Cable negative terminal followed by unmounting air cleaner assembly, exhaust crossover and throttle body duct. Before you proceed drain part of the cooling system fluids. Then extract the crossover pipe at the Exhaust Manifold and upper Radiator Hose from the Thermostat Housing. First you should disconnect the ignition wires from front spark plugs then place them to the side. The Exhaust Manifold heat shield requires fastener removal and heat shield removal followed by the removal of Exhaust Manifold nuts. The Exhaust Manifold needs removal from the vehicle bottom before using a tool to remove the Exhaust Manifold Gasket. Thoroughly clean both mating areas on the Cylinder Head and Exhaust Manifold before adding the new Exhaust Manifold Gasket and Exhaust Manifold. Tighten the Exhaust Manifold nuts to 12 foot pounds then put on the Exhaust Manifold heat shield and install its nuts which need to be tightened to 89 inch lbs. The crossover pipe installation for the exhaust manifolds should be followed by crossover heat shield installation as well as heater bypass tubes along with upper Radiator Hose installation. After installing the front spark plugs with an ignition wire connect the cooling system to its proper reservoir and install both parts of the air cleaner assembly and throttle body duct. Replace the negative cable before checking exhaust system leaks.
