2000 Chevrolet Corvette Alternator Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the alternator on 2000 Chevrolet Corvette?
A: Proceeding with Alternator replacement requires disconnecting the negative Battery Cable followed by removing the regulator connector and the battery-to-generator terminal at the generator's back. Safely release the belt tensioner accessory while removing the belt from the generator's pulley. After disconnecting the generator mounting bolts you can pull the generator out from its bracket. After placing the generator in its bracket install the generator mounting bolts with 50 n.m torque setting (37 lb ft). Quantify all connection steps by installing the accessory Drive Belt onto the generator pulley while connecting the regulator connector and the battery-to-generator terminal to the generator back. Maintain a 13 n.m (10 lb ft) torque limit on the battery-to-generator terminal nut. To finish the installation you need to install the negative Battery Cable while tightening the bolt to 15 n.m (11 lb ft), then program the transmitters.
